No. 15 Women's Soccer Coasts Past Nyack, 5-2

NYACK, N.Y. (Sept. 26, 2012) – The No. 15 LIU Post women's soccer team registered a 5-2 road victory over the Nyack Warriors on Wednesday afternoon.

The Pioneers improve to 7-1-1 overall while Nyack slips to 4-5 on the season.
Junior forward
Alexa Niciforo (East Islip, N.Y.) got the Pioneers on the board with a goal at 13:05, on an assist from freshman forward
Susanne Vistnes (Randaberg, Norway).
Just seven minutes later, Nyack tied the game when Cyan Jean-Baptiste scored, with Sabrina Caires registering the assist.
However, two Pioneer goals just before halftime by senior
Prudence Rydstrom (Islip, N.Y.) and junior
Lauren Bischoff (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) gave LIU Post a 3-1 lead heading into halftime.
The second half was kicked off by a goal three minutes in by freshman
Hanna Westerling (Alvadalen, Sweden), followed ten minutes later by another Vistnes goal.
Nyack's Stacey Cervantes scored in the 77th minute to notch another goal for Nyack, but the Pioneers easily held the three-goal margin for the win.
Leading the way offensively was Vistnes, who had a goal and three assists. Junior back
Karina Rizzo (Oceanside, N.Y.) picked up two assists as well.
In goal,
Nicole Fierro's (East Hampton) five-save effort earned her the win, while counterpart Madelin Barbarino made five saves also.
The Pioneers held a 16-11 shot differential and a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.
LIU Post is next scheduled to travel to Saint Thomas Aquinas on Saturday afternoon.
