Softball Tabbed Second In ECC Preseason Poll; Hagenah Named Preseason Player Of The Year
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Feb. 7, 2013) - The LIU Post softball team was voted second in the East Coast Conference preseason poll released on Thursday. In addition, junior
Nicole Hagenah (Commack, N.Y.) was voted to repeat as the Preseason Player of the Year by the league's coaches.
Molloy College was picked to three-peat, finishing atop the eight-team poll after receiving five first place votes. The Pioneers were just two points behind the Lions, receiving three first place votes. Dowling College was third followed by Queens College at fourth rounding out the top half of the poll. Mercy College filled the fifth spot while NYIT, the University of Bridgeport, and St. Thomas Aquinas College grabbed the final three places.
Senior Kelly Jansen of Molloy was voted Preseason Pitcher of the Year.
LIU Post returns 14 letterwinners along with five newcomers. The Pioneers open their season on March 3 against Merrimack College (at Adelphi University).
