Softball's Havens Tabbed ECC Player Of The Week
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (March 26, 2013) – Sophomore left fielder
Catherine Havens (Eastport, N.Y.) of the LIU Post softball team has been named the East Coast Conference Player of the Week.
As the Pioneers leadoff batter during a double header sweep of ECC foe Mercy College Saturday afternoon, Havens set the table as she went 4-for-8 giving her a .500 batting average, on base percentage, and slugging percentage. In game one, Havens went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, and RBI, and a stolen base.
The Pioneers took game one by way of the mercy rule with a 12-4 win in six innings. Game two finished with the score 7-2 in favor of LIU Post.
Liz Weber (Brightwaters, N.Y.) earned the win in game one pitching a complete game while striking out five, and also went 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored.
Paige Swantek (Smithtown, N.Y.) added two hits and three RBI. In game two,
Megan Salcido (Brawley, Calif.) was credited with the win.
Aly Dzierzynski (Deer Park, N.Y.) finished the game 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Next on the slate for the Pioneers is a trip on Tuesday, March 26 to New Haven, Conn. for a matchup against regional foe Southern Connecticut State University starting at 2:30 p.m.
