KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Aug. 13, 2013) - On Tuesday, the LIU Post women's soccer team was slotted 24th in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division II Preseason Top-25 Poll. It is the third-highest ranking for the Pioneers in the initial tally since 2008.

Defending national champion West Florida earned the top spot, while semifinalist Grand Valley State, and runner-up UC San Diego, were listed second and third, respectively. Reigning NCAA Division II East Region title-holder Saint Rose placed fourth, and Armstrong Atlantic State rounded out the Top-5.

LIU Post was also met by a fellow East Coast Conference institution in the ledger. Dowling placed 22nd, following a season in which the Golden Lions advanced to the regional final.

In 2013, the Pioneers welcome back four of their Top-5 scorers, including leading point-getter Susanne Vistnes (Randaberg, Norway). An NSCAA All-America third-team choice a year ago, Vistnes collected Division II's fourth-best total of 47 points (19 G, 9 A) in 2012. Additionally, her 19 tallies slotted her third amongst the nation.

Dawson and his LIU Post women's soccer squad open the new campaign on Friday, Sept. 6, when they face Southern Connecticut at the AIC Women's Soccer Classic in Springfield, Mass. The contest is set for a 7:30 p.m. start.
