Altamura Joins Cross Country Coaching Staff
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Aug. 14, 2013) - On Wednesday, LIU Post Head Cross Country Coach Rob Morris (Patchogue, N.Y.) revealed the hiring of Christian Altamura (Seaford, N.Y.) as a volunteer assistant coach. A four-year competitor for the Pioneers, Altamura will oversee the team's strength and injury-prevention workouts in 2013.
In his undergraduate career (2009-12), which saw four-straight East Coast Conference titles, Altamura was a four-time All-ECC selection (three first-team nods). He was also a two-time USTFCCCA All-Academic choice, and a 2011 Division II All-Region pick. In addition, Altamura currently holds the 11th-fastest 8k and 10k marks in program history, with clockings of 25:35, and 32:25, respectively.
When asked about the appointment, Morris replied: "He (Christian) brings an amazing love, dedication and knowledge of the sport to the table."
Altamura is currently completing the requirements for his bachelor's degree in Health and Physical Education from LIU Post. Upon graduation, he will look to pursue a master's in Physical Therapy.
