Long-Time LIU Post Equipment Manager Passes Away
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Aug. 26, 2013) - A 2005 inductee of the LIU Post Athletic Hall of Fame, Al Venturino (Glen Cove, N.Y.), passed away on Friday at the age of 85. He served as the Pioneers' equipment manager for 30 years, ranging from 1961-1991.
"Today is a sad day in the LIU Post family," stated Director of Athletics Bryan Collins (Sayville, N.Y.). "We have lost a true Pioneer. Al Venturino excelled as Post's equipment manager for 30 years. However, he was much more than that to the athletes. He was a father figure to all. To think of all the lives he touched is overwhelming. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Venturino family."
Venturino is survived by his wife, Rose, four children (Frank, Tom, Albert and Lisa), and 10 grandchildren.
