BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 14, 2013) - On Saturday, the LIU Post women's soccer team opened up the home portion of its 2013 schedule with a 5-0 drubbing of Nyack College in Brookville, N.Y. Sophomore forward Susanne Vistnes (Randaberg, Norway) paved the way for the Pioneers in the win, tallying two goals.

Vistnes got the green and gold just 2:03 into the contest, and LIU Post (2-1), which outshot Nyack (1-2) by a 24-3 count, never looked back from there. On the play, sophomore back Danielle Lehman (Brockport, N.Y.) cranked a shot off the right post that was put back by Vistnes for a 1-0 Pioneer advantage. Soon after, sophomore midfielder Hanna Westerling (Alvadalen, Sweden) doubled the hosts' lead on another rebound opportunity.

LIU Post would tack on two more tallies before the half to claim a 4-0 lead at the break. Vistnes and senior midfielder/forward Jeanine Ambrogi (Greenlawn, N.Y), who beat three defenders to find the back of the mesh, accounted for the goals only a minute-plus apart.

Five minutes Into the latter stanza, sophomore midfielder Jackie Niciforo (East Islip, N.Y.) capped off the scoring. During a scramble in front of the net, Niciforo fired a five-yard attempt past Warriors' junior goalie Madeline Barbarino, making it a 5-0 game.

Between the pipes, sophomore Katelyn Phillips (Littleton, Colo.) earned her first shutout of 2013. She faced no shots on net in the effort.

Head Coach Mark Dawson and the Pioneers return to the pitch Wednesday (Sept. 18), when they begin a short two-game road trip in Brookhaven, N.Y, at East Coast Conference arch-rival Dowling. The opening kick is slated for 4 p.m.
