GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (Sept. 17, 2013) - The No. 5 LIU Post field hockey team, led by a two-goal performance from senior forward Carlee Dragon (Bridgewater, N.J.), took down Adelphi by a score of 4-1 Tuesday afternoon at Motamed Field in Garden City, N.Y.

As a result, the Pioneers improve to 3-0 on the season, while the Panthers dip to 2-2.

Junior defender Stephanie Ruhle (Wanaque, N.J.) kickstarted the offense after just four-and-a-half minutes of play, as she put home an assist from sophomore forward Keliann Margiotta (Sewell, N.J.). The score would remain 1-0, until Dragon doubled the LIU Post lead in the 22nd minute off a feed from freshman Lauren Adamusik (Clark, N.J.).

Adamusik would add another helper in the 30th minute, as she sent a pass to freshman Melissa Quintanilla (Rome, N.Y.), who found the back of the net to bring the visitors' advantage to 3-0.

Dragon opened up the scoring in the second half with an unassisted tally to put her squad up 4-0. She blasted the ball past the Panthers' defense in the 43rd minute for her second goal of the contest.

Less than a minute after Dragon's marker, Adelphi's Lena Pollich registered the lone Panther score off a feed from Mary Plotas.

Ericka Parks (Nesconset, N.Y.) recorded two saves in her first collegiate start to secure the win. Adelphi's Kelly Serrao made five stops in goal.

LIU Post opens up play at home on Thursday (Sept. 19), as it hosts Dowling at Hickox Field for a 4 p.m. match-up.
