Field Hockey Sticks at No. 5 in NFHCA Top-10 Poll
CHANDLER, Ariz. (Sept. 24, 2013) - On Tuesday, the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, in conjunction with Penn Monto, released its weekly Division II Top-10 ledger, and LIU Post remained in the fifth spot on the tally.
The Pioneers are coming off a perfect 3-0 week with victories over Adelphi, Dowling, and Saint Michael's, giving them a total of 98 points.
Shippensburg stayed at the top of the list for the second-straight week. Millersville and West Chester swapped positions at No. 2, and 3, respectively. The Marauders, who beat the Golden Rams last week, 3-1, totaled 176 points and four first-place votes. WCU accumulated 153 points.
Stonehill, with a trio of 3-1 wins last week, maintained the forth ranking on the ledger, tallying 146 points. Kutztown had the biggest drop-off, falling from sixth to ninth.
Slippery Rock rounded out the census at No. 10, making its 2013 debut in the NFHCA Top-10 Poll.
Up next for the Pioneers is a home tilt today (Sept. 24) against Southern Connecticut State at Hickox Field in Brookville, N.Y. The bout is set for a 4 p.m. start.
