BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 28, 2013) - On Saturday, the LIU Post women's soccer team earned its third-consecutive victory, blanking NYIT, 3-0, in an East Coast Conference clash at Robert Blitz Field in Brookville, N.Y. The triumph is also the Pioneers' fourth in their last five contests.

Sophomore forward Susanne Vistnes (Randaberg, Norway) got the scoring started for the hosts in the 32nd minute. She corraled a sideline pass from sophomore back Katie LaManna (Smithtown, N.Y.), and streaked toward the net. Vistnes subsequently beat the Bears' (2-5-1, 0-3 ECC) keeper, Victoria Barclay (Holbrook, N.Y.), on the short side to give her squad a 1-0 lead.

Less than four minutes later, junior midfielder Lauren Bellone (West Islip, N.Y.) doubled the Pioneers' advantage, when she dribbled past three defenders, and put a shot into the lower right corner of the net. The marker was Bellone's first of the 2013 campaign.

LIU Post (5-2, 2-1 ECC), which outshot NYIT 22-3 in the contest, would bring that two-goal cushion into the intermission.

During the latter half, the Pioneers continued to control play, and were rewarded with a tally in the 76th minute as a result. Like Bellone, senior forward Alexa Niciforo (East Islip, N.Y.) notched her first goal of the year. Off a quick one-touch from senior midfielder/forward Jeanine Ambrogi (Greenlawn, N.Y.), via a Vistnes corner kick, Niciforo tapped it into the open net to make it a 3-0 game.

Between the pipes, sophomore goalie Katelyn Phillips (Littleton, Colo.) made three saves for the green and gold. Barclay recorded seven stops for NYIT.

Head Coach Mark Dawson and the Pioneers are back to the pitch Friday (Oct. 4), when they host Roberts Wesleyan at Robert Blitz Field in Brookville, N.Y. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
