Cross Country Places 10th and 15th at Princeton Invitational
PRINCETON, N.J. (Oct. 18, 2014) - Highlighed by
Mike Scott's (Fultonville, N.Y) and
Talya Williams' (Schenectady, N.Y.) early finishes, the LIU Post men's and women's cross country teams raced to a 15th- and 10th-place showing, respectively, at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday.
Scott crossed the finish line in 26:31 at a 5:20 pace, good for a 59th-place finish out of 337 competitors. Junior
Steven Arnone (Staten Island, N.Y.) placed next for the green and gold, at 26:38, slotting 69th with a 5:22 pace. Freshman
Ryan Gioe (Huntington Station, N.Y) completed the course in 27:56, while
Tyler McGarvey (Babylon, N.Y.) and
Joseph Lasher (Seaford, N.Y.) capped off the Pioneer effort at 28:09 and 29:32, respectively.
On the women's side, Williams once again finished first for the Pioneers. She completed the course in 22:59 with a 6:10 pace, good for an eighth-place effort out of 302 athletes, marking her third in the LIU Post all-time six-kilometer record book. Elizabeth Stirling (Wantagh, N.Y.) finished second for the green and gold.
Lauren Hoffman (Melville, N.Y.) clocked a time of 24:47 in the race, followed by
Shaylyn Stehl (Wantagh, N.Y.) and
Jessica Wiking (Farmingdale, N.Y.) at 25:06 and 26:05, respectively.

Rob Morris and the Pioneer men's and women's cross country teams are back in action on Saturday (Nov. 8), when they compete at the East Coast Conference Championships in Rochester, N.Y.
