Women's Swimming Loses at Central Connecticut State, 141-121

Joyce Kwok (Middle Village, N.Y.) posted two NCAA "B" cut times in the 100- and 200-yard butterfly.
In the first event, the green and gold's 200-yard medley relay squad,
Seren Jones (Cardiff, Whales, United Kingdom),
Erika Hultman (Bara, Sweden),
Marthe Soerensen (Stavanger, Norway) and
Courtney Delehanty (Oceanport, N.J.), raced to a second-place finish of 1:49.79.
In the 1000-yard freestyle,
Poppy Hill (London, England, United Kingdom) and
Jacqueline Tonn (Edmonton, Alberta) tapped the pad at 11:17.34 and 11:29.57, respectively, good for a third- and fifth-place clocking.
The 200-yard freestyle saw a respective fourth- and fifth-place showing for Soerensen and
Kat Kazaba (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.), but
Johanna Pettersson (Kungalv, Sweden) had the Pioneers' initial first-place effort in the 100-yard backstroke at 58.11.
Senior
Carolin Rademacher (Isernhagen, Germany) and Hultman individually placed second (1:08.75) and fourth (1:09.96) in the 100-yard breaststroke. Kwok, the butterfly and backstroke specialist, competed in the 200-yard butterfly and achieved an NCAA "B" qualifying cut time (2:06.54).
The Pioneers took a one-two finish in the 50-free as
Laura Bendfeldt (Grosshansdorf, Germany) and
Meghan Brazier (West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) reached for the wall at 24.83 and 24.97, respectively. In the 100-yard freestyle, the pair slotted second and third, with Brazier finishing at 53.89 and Bendfeldt at 53.99.
The 200-yard backstroke featured another first-place clocking by Pettersson at 2:08.22, with her teammate
Cristina Garcia Mauri (Malaga, Spain) trailing by four seconds and completing the event third. Rademacher swam the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:24.76, good for second, while Kazaba and Hill finished the 500-free in 5:36.33 and 5:42.10, respectively.
The 100-yard butterfly saw Kwok's second NCAA "B" qualifying cut time of the day. The junior tapped the pad first with a time of 56.97. Rademacher and Soerensen helped the green and gold to another one-two event win in the 400-yard individual medley, completing their swim at 4:40.21 and 4:43.50.
LIU Post's 400-yard freestyle relay "A" squad - Bendfeldt, Pettersson, Kwok and Brazier - took the final event with a 3:35.25 finish.

Maureen Travers and the Pioneers are back in action next Saturday (Nov. 1), when they host East Stroudsburg at the Pratt Natatorium at 1 p.m.
