Williams Claims ECC Runner of the Week Distinction
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Oct. 6, 2014) - On Monday, LIU Post women's cross country freshman
Talya Williams (Schenectady, N.Y.) collected her third East Coast Conference week-end honor of 2014, earning runner of the week accolades.
Williams ran a first-place clocking of 18:10.01 on Saturday at the Highlander Challenge in Jersey City, N.J. Her time set a new school mark for the 5k, and bested 162 other Division I, II and III competitors.
Overall, Williams' top effort helped the green and gold to a second-place finish in the race. As a whole, the Pioneers clocked an average time of 18:59, which shattered the previous meet record.
LIU Post is back in action next Saturday (Oct. 18), when they compete at the Princeton Invitational in Princeton, N.J.
