Women's Cross Country Holds Still at No. 7 in USTFCCCA East Poll
NEW ORLEANS, La. (Oct. 8, 2014) - The LIU Post women's cross country team has remained seventh in the USTFCCCA Division II East Region Rankings, released Tuesday.
Last Saturday, the Pioneers competed at the Highlander Challenge, where they finished second out of 20 squads. The green and gold also clocked a record average time of 18:59 in the meet, besting front-runner St. Thomas Aquinas.
Freshman
Talya Williams (Schenectady, N.Y.) won the 5k, crossing at 18:10.01, and breaking the program record for a five-kilometer race on any course by two seconds. She was named the East Coast Conference Runner of the Week.
Meanwhile, junior
Elizabeth Stirling (Wantagh, N.Y.) posted the second-fastest time in school history with an 18:27.81. Freshman
Lauren Hoffman (Melville, N.Y.) added a seventh-place showing of 19:00.38, which ranks fourth all-time.
Head Coach
Rob Morris and his LIU Post squad are back in action next Saturday (Oct. 18), when they run at the Princeton Invitational in Princeton, N.J.
