Box Score GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (Nov. 14, 2014) - The LIU Post women's basketball team dropped its 2014-15 season opener, 87-54, to Adelphi in the opening game of the ECC/NE-10 Challenge at the Center for Recreation and Sport.
The Pioneers (0-1) were led by senior guard
Chelsea Williams (Copiague, N.Y.), who scored a game-high 26 points on 8-of-16 shooting. The senior was 3-of-6 from behind the arc and 7-of-8 from the free-throw line.
Adelphi (1-0) led throughout most of the first half. With just over 11 minutes left on the clock, Williams hit a jumper in the paint to give LIU Post a 15-14 lead. From then on, the Panthers outscored the visitors, 26-13, taking a 40-28 lead into the break.
The Pioneers held an 8-2 advantage in second chance points in the opening session, but Adelphi was able to get out and run against LIU Post, holding an 18-10 edge in fast-break points.
In the second half, the Panthers outscored the Pioneers, 18-4, in the paint and 16-4 in points off turnovers.

Deirdre Moore and her LIU Post squad return to action on Saturday (Nov. 15), when they take on Pace in the final game of the ECC/NE-10 Challenge. The opening tip is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. from Garden City.
