Women's Swimming Bests Kutztown, 132-110

Joyce Kwok (Middle Village, N.Y.) and
Meghan Brazier (W. Vancouver, B.C., Canada) NCAA "B" qualifying cut times in the 200-yard butterfly and 100-yard freestyle, respectively, the LIU Post women's swimming squad defeated Kutztown, 132-110, on Saturday.
The Pioneers started off strong, clinching one-two finishes in the first two events of the day, the 200-yard medley relay and 1,000-yard freestyle.
Seren Jones (Cardiff, Whales),
Erika Hultman (Bara, Sweden), Kwok and Brazier completed the relay first at 1:49.89, while
Kat Kazaba (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.),
Christina Garcia Mauri (Malaga, Spain),
Kirsty Elliott (Edinburgh, Scotland) and
Marte Sorensen (Stavanger, Norway) tapped the pad at 1:56.97. The 1000 yard freestyle saw
Carolin Rademacher (Isernhagen, Germany) and
Poppy Hill (London, England) securing first and second with 10:48.88 and 11:24.20 marks, respectively.
In the 200-yard freestyle, freshman
Laura Bendfeldt (Grosshansdorf, Germany) finished first, posting a 1:57.97, while Kazaba secured third at 2:04.91. The 100 yard backstroke, one again, yeilded a Pioneer one-two finish as
Johanna Pettersson (Kungalv, Sweden) and Garcia Mauri achieved 57.97 and 1:02.22 cut times, respectively. Hultman swam to a top spot in the 100 yard breaststroke at 1:10.15.
Kwok, the reigning 200-yard butterfly National Champion, clinched first and a NCAA "B" qualifying mark in the event on Saturday, with a 2:05.21. The 50-yard freestyle saw LIU Post earning the top three slots of the heat, as Brazier, Sorensen and
Courtney Delehanty (Oceanport, N.J.) tapped the pad at 24.47, 24.98 and 25.63, respectively. Brazier posted a NCAA "B" cut time, and finished the 100 yard freestyle first at 52.26, while Kazaba placed third in the race at 56.45. Pettersson and Garcia Mauri completed the 200-yard backstroke first and second at 2:09.74 and 2:11.42, respectively, while Racemacher and Hultman capped off the Pioneer's one-two effort in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:22.87 and 2:34.57, respectively.
