Valenza Dubbed ECAC Division II Rookie of the Year

DANBURY, Conn. (Dec. 19, 2014) - The Eastern College Athletic Conference announced its 2014 Division II Volleyball All-Star Team on Thursday, and LIU Post freshman middle blocker/outside hitter Danielle Valenza (Hauppauge, N.Y.) claimed rookie of the year praise.

Valenza, the 2014 East Coast Conference Rookie of the Year, helped the Pioneers to a 20-14 record this season, and a third-straight appearance in the NCAA Division II East Region Championship.

A two-time ECC Rookie of the Week selection, Valenza finished with 363 kills, which ranked third in the conference, on 947 total hits, translating to a .206 attack percentage. Her average of 3.00 kills per set was eighth-best in the league.

In addition to her stellar hitting, Valenza also amassed 205 digs, 65 blocks and 16 service aces.
