Brunetti, Laurino Chosen to Daktronics All-Super Region One Team

WEST CHESTER, Pa. (Dec. 3, 2014) - For the first time in four years, the LIU Post football team had multiple players recognized to the Daktronics All-Super Region One Team, released Wednesday. Red-shirt senior linebacker Anthony Brunetti (Bayville, N.Y.) and red-shirt senior quarterback Steven Laurino (Boise, Idaho) individually snared first- and second-team accolades.

Brunetti, an All-Northeast-10 Conference first-team selection in 2014, is the first Pioneer linebacker to be honored as a Daktronics All-Region standout since Ronnie Modik (Levittown, N.Y.) in 2011. He converted to that position, after spending the last four years at running back.

The Bayville product ranked second in the NE-10 in tackles (120) and tackles per game (10.0), including a team-leading 62 solo stops. He was also fourth in assisted tackles (58) and interceptions (4), and sixth in fumble recoveries (2). Additionally, Brunetti currently sits in the Top-60 in Division II in four statistical categories, led by a No. 37 ranking in tackles.

Meanwhile, the honors continue to roll in for Laurino, the Northeast-10 Conference Most Valuable Player and Harlon Hill Award finalist. At the epicenter of the LIU Post offense, he completed 59.8 percent (317-of-530) of his passes for a league-leading 3,565 yards and 29 touchdowns. Plus, the Boise native scampered for a team-high 609 yards rushing and 22 scores.

A five-time NE-10 Player of the Week honoree, Laurino is presently slotted second amongst all of Division II in points responsible for (294.0) and points responsible for per game (24.5). The signal-caller ranks third in total offense (347.8), seventh in rushing touchdowns (19) and eighth in passing yards, as well.

Brunetti, Laurino and the Pioneers wrapped up the 2014 campaign at 8-4 overall, including a 7-2 mark in Northeast-10 Conference play. They also hoisted their first outright NE-10 Championship and advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament for the first time in nearly a decade.
