Women's Fencing Battles at Max Garret Invitational

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (Nov. 22, 2014)
 - The LIU Post women's fencing team recently took another leap forward in its inaugural season, as it competed at the Max Garret Invitational on the campus of Penn State University.

Freshman Natalie Guerino (San Francisco, Calif.) and junior Stina Almeland (Bergen, Norway) were the top fencers in the sabre discipline, placing in a tie for 42nd out of 47 fencers at the meet.

Senior Alexa Parry (Setauket, N.Y.) placed highest among all other LIU Post fencers with a 22nd-place finish in epee competition. Sophomore Kirstan Shaw (South Setauket, N.Y.) battled to finish in 26th place overall.

Junior Brittany Burgos (Bronx, N.Y.) was the highest-placing Pioneer in the foil discipline, ending the day in a tie for 37th place.

Head Coach Mike Corona and the Pioneers will next duel Hunter and Army on Dec. 5 at the Hunter Tri-Match in New York, N.Y.
