Weber, Martin Land ECC Weekly Recognition

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Mar. 17, 2014) - With a full week of action in the books, hurlers Liz Weber (Brightwaters, N.Y.) and Ashley Martin (Long Beach, N.Y.) were recognized Monday by the East Coast Conference as its Pitcher and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

Weber made three starts for the Pioneers at the Rebel Spring Games in Winter Haven, Fla. She picked up a win in each of her appearances, tossing 21.0 total innings versus Northern State, Ohio Dominican, and St. Cloud State. The senior allowed just one earned run for an ERA of 0.33 on 14 hits and four walks, while fanning 14. Against Northern State (Mar. 10), she fired a complete-game no-hitter, en route to the Pioneers' 8-0 victory.

Martin kickstarted her collegiate career with a 2-0 record in the circle. The freshman threw 16.2 innings, giving up four earned runs on 12 hits for an ERA of 1.68. She also struck out eight batters. In her debut, Martin pitched a complete-game three-hitter against Hillsdale without giving up an earned run to help her squad to a 4-2 victory.

The Pioneers will now open up a long homestand, as they face Southern Connecticut State (Mar. 18), Le Moyne (Mar. 20), Stonehill (Mar. 22) and Dominican (Mar. 23) over the next six days.
