CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Mar. 4, 2014) - After leading the Pioneers to an 18-2 East Coast Conference regular-season record, LIU Post women's basketball junior guard Chelsea Williams (Copiague, N.Y.) and Head Coach Deirdre Moore have been named the 2014 ECC Women's Basketball Player and Coach of the Year, respectively.

Williams was an integral part in LIU Post capturing the ECC regular-season championship. In 26 games, Williams has poured in 19.2 points per game, good for second-best in the conference. She scored in double figures in all but two contests on the season, topped the 20-point mark on 12 different occasions, and spearheads the ECC with 186 free throws made and an .856 free-throw percentage. In addition, Williams, an All-ECC first-team selection as well, pulled down a more-than-respectable 5.9 rebounds per game from the guard position.

Moore, who has guided the Pioneers to three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, takes the top coaching honor for the first time in her tenure. Under Moore's tutelage, LIU Post captured its first-ever ECC regular-season title this season with an 18-2 league mark (21-5 overall). Back on Jan. 18, Moore reached a milestone, notching her 100th-career win in an 85-73 win over St. Thomas Aquinas. She now has the Pioneers poised for their fourth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance.

Senior guards Alexis Peters (Dorchester, Mass.) and Kiki Sears (Hampton, Va.) were named to the All-ECC second-team. Peters finished the regular-season second on the team in scoring (13.6 ppg.). The Dorchester, Mass. also added clips of 5.7 rebounds and 1.5 steals per contest. Meanwhile, Sears averaged 12.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.0 steals per game.
