Softball Slides to 17th in Final Regular Season NFCA Division II Census
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Apr. 30, 2014) - With the 2014 regular season coming to a close, the LIU Post softball team slipped one spot to No. 17 in the final NFCA Division II Poll, as released on Wednesday.
Fresh off winning its first outright Lone Star Conference regular-season title and extending its program-best winning streak to 23 games, West Texas A&M (50-4) held on to the unanimous position at No. 1.
The Pioneers closed out the 2014 campaign with a 41-7 record, including a 23-3 mark in East Coast Conference action. Over their final 10 games, the green and gold went 8-2 by sweeping Molloy, New Haven, and Dowling, while splitting with Queens and NYIT.
LIU Post will now host the ECC Championship, set to be held Thursday-Saturday, May 1-3. The first match-up is set for 11 a.m. at the LIU Post Softball Complex between the top-seeded Pioneers and fourth-seeded Dowling.
