LOUISVILLE, Ky. (May 21, 2014) - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association released its selections for the Division II All-American teams on Wednesday, with LIU Post junior catcher Aly Dzierzynski (Deer Park, N.Y.) earning first-team recognition.

With the accolade, Dzierzynski becomes just the fifth Pioneer to be named a Division II All-American by the NFCA. She is also the first member of the green and gold to be honored as a first-team member since current teammate Nicole Hagenah was given similar kudos in 2011.

Dzierzynski, the recipient of this year's Daktronics East Region and East Coast Conference Player of the Year awards, has had a season to remember in Brookville. The junior spearheads the team in seven statistical hitting categories. She leads LIU Post with a .439 batting average and has broken single-season program records in home runs (25), runs batted in (75), total bases (173) and extra-base hits (40). In addition, the Deer Park, N.Y. native is contributing a .925 slugging percentage, which is the best clip in the entire East Region, and the ninth-highest slugging percentage in the country.

Dzierzynski has added a stellar defensive component to her all-around prowess on the field as well. The catcher has committed just three errors in a total of 265 chances, translating to a .989 fielding percentage.
