LIU Post Rises to 12th in Latest Learfield Cup Standings
CLEVELAND, Ohio (May 27, 2014) - An appearance by the LIU Post women's lacrosse team in the NCAA Division II Championship semifinals has elevated the Pioneers one spot to 12th in the NACDA Division II Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Standings, released last week.
LIU Post. which currently sports a 412-point total, had 357 points upon completion of the winter championship season. It received a 55-point boost as a result of the women's lacrosse program's impressive 18-2 finish in 2014.
Grand Valley State continues to be uncatchable in the race, as the Lakers sport an overwhelming 844.50 points. West Florida comes in at a far second with 563.50 points.
The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 14 sports - seven women's and seven men's.
