Lasher Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District First-Team Praise

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (May 29, 2014) - On Thursday, LIU Post senior runner Joseph Lasher (Seaford, N.Y.) was selected to the Capital One Academic All-District first-team by the College Sports Information Directors of America. He was recognized for his efforts during the 2013 cross country season.

Lasher currently boasts the top grade-point average in all of District I, sporting a cumulative 3.76 GPA in Computer Science. He was joined by five selections from Stonehill, three from Bentley, two from Southern Connecticut State, and one from Roberts Wesleyan.

The Seaford, N.Y. native garnered All-East Coast Conference first-team recognition after running the second-best time (25:28.62) at the ECC Championships. He was also dubbed a USTFCCCA All-East Region honoree, as a result of a 14th-place finish (32:25.20) at the NCAA Division II East Region Championships.

Lasher posted three personal-best times in the 8k this past year, the last of which occurred at ECC's. The senior's first performance came at his own course in Brookville, where he clocked at 25:40.94, on Sept. 14. Three weeks later, he crossed at a second-place time of 25:37.55 at the NJIT Challenge.
