Pioneers Top ECC Commissioner's Honor Roll
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Jul. 29, 2014) - On Monday, East Coast Conference Commissioner, Dr. Robert Dranoff, announced the list of 1,090 student-athletes who were named to the 2013-14 ECC Commissioner's Honor Roll. LIU Post led all institutions for the third-consecutive year, placing 146 student-athletes on the ledger.
The ECC's 11 member institutions and three associate members continued to increase the number of student-athletes honored for the sixth-consecutive year (979 in 2012-13; 759 in 2011-12; 678 in 2010-11; 654 in 2009-10; 617 in 2008-09; 613 in 2007-08).
"The number of students added to our ECC Commissioner's Honor Roll has grown each year since we began this award six years ago, which is a real tribute to the hard work our athletic programs and, especially, our student-athletes put in the classroom," stated Dranoff. "We are very pleased to recognize these 1,102 men and women for their hard work and wonderful achievements."
Bridgeport finished behind LIU Post with 131 student-athletes recognized, while Roberts Wesleyan was third with 116. Molloy (114) and Dowling (104) also reached triple digits for the number of student-athletes on the list.
The ECC Commissioner's Honor Roll is awarded to student-athletes who receive a 3.25 or better cumulative grade-point average. This annual recognition, in addition to Scholar-Athlete awards, helps to uphold the East Coast Conference's mission of promoting the total person and the ability to excel not only in the athletic arena but also in the classroom.
