CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Sept. 15, 2014) - With a record-breaking performance at the LIU Post Invitational, freshman cross country standout Talya Williams (Schenectady, N.Y.) received her second-consecutive East Coast Conference Runner of the Week accolade on Monday.

Williams ran the course in 18:12.27, and crossed the finish line first over all 128 athletes on Saturday (Sept. 13). Averaging an under six-minute mile, the freshman finished 30 seconds in front of teammate Elizabeth Stirling (Wantagh, N.Y.), who held the initial program record for the 5k.

The Pioneers rounded out the invitational as the top women's team among all Division II institutions and third overall, behind Fordham and Wagner.

Head Coach Rob Morris and the green and gold are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 27, when they compete at the Codfish Bowl in Boston, Mass.
