Byrne Earns ECC Rookie of the Week Accolades

Meagan Byrne (Deer Park, N.Y.) has been named the East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week, as announced Monday.
Byrne won both of her singles matches, upending Dowling's Lauren Young, 6-2, 6-0, and St. Thomas Aquinas' Carolyn Kopf, 6-0, 3-6, and 6-4. Last Friday, she picked up her first collegiate victory against the Golden Lions and went on to secure her second the next day versus the Spartans.
The rookie's victories helped the green and gold to a 2-0 week, advancing them to a 4-1 overall record and a third-place slot in the current ECC standings.
