Men's and Women's Cross Country Run at Fordham Fiasco

Women's ResultsBRONX, N.Y. (Sept. 6, 2014) - The LIU Post cross country teams ran in the Fordham Fiasco/Ed Joyce Memorial on Saturday at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y. The women's squad led the way with a seventh-place finish.
For the women, freshman
Talya Williams (Schenectady, N.Y.) finished fourth over all Division II, III and Junior College competitors, crossing the line at 19:28.43. Junior
Elizabeth Stirling (Wantagh, N.Y.) rounded out the Top-10, clocking a 20:04.68. Freshman
Lauren Hoffman (Melville, N.Y.) placed 28th with a 6:49.3 pace and a 21:11.36 completion of the course. Seniors
Shaylyn Stehl (Wantagh, N.Y.) and
Brooke Rozea (Syosset, N.Y.) also competed for the Pioneers, finishing the Fiasco with times of 21:59.21 and 22:57.13, respectively.
On the men's side, red-shirt sophomore
Mike Scott (Fultonville, N.Y.) recorded a 29th-place showing (29:14.53) amongst the field of runners. Junior
Steven Arnone (Staten Island, N.Y.) followed in 50th (30:06.22), while freshman
Ryan Gioe (Huntington Station, N.Y.) clocked a 30:53.59 in the five-mile race.
The Pioneers are back in action at home next Saturday (Sept. 13), when they host their annual LIU Post Invitational on campus in Brookville, N.Y. The meet is slated for a 10:30 a.m. start.
