Comeback Bid Falls Short as UDC Upends Women's Basketball, 82-73
Box Score BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Jan. 29, 2015) - The LIU Post women's basketball team's bid for an improbable comeback fell short as UDC defeated the Pioneers, 82-73, in an East Coast Conference battle at the Pratt Recreation Center in Brookville.
The Pioneers (11-8, 7-4) battled back from a 20-point deficit with just over six minutes left in regulation and got with six (79-73), but UDC (16-3, 9-2 ECC) hit three free throws down the stretch to hand LIU Post its second-straight defeat.
In the first half, the green and gold got out to a slow start as the Firebirds went on a 16-6 run that spanned just over four minutes. At that point, LIU Post found itself down 26-6. The visitors would hold a double-digit lead throughout the rest of the first 20 minutes. Turnovers doomed the Pioneers in the first half as UDC was able to capitalize and score 17 points off LIU Post miscues.
In the second half, it was more of the same until the Pioneers turned it up on the defensive end.
