Women's Tennis Falls to NYIT in ECC Semifinals, 5-2

FLUSHING, N.Y. (Oct. 23, 2015) - The No. 4 seed LIU Post women's tennis team suffered a 5-2 loss to top-seeded New York Institute of Technology in an East Coast Conference Championship semifinal on Friday at the Queens College Tennis Center.
LIU Post (6-6) won its lone doubles match at the top flight. Seniors
Didi Fatchikova (Sofia, Bulgaria) and
Lucie Chrastecka (Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic) cruised to an 8-1 victory against Justyna Krol (Chorzow, Poland) and Rosa LaCorte (Merrick, N.Y.).
In singles, sophomore
Meagan Byrne (Deer Park, N.Y.) rallied from one set down to defeat LaCorte, 2-6, 6-1, 6-2, at the sixth position.
Freshman
Shanice Arthur (Brookville, N.Y.) and Chrastecka led their respective No. 1 and No. 3 singles flights, but they went unfinished since the match had already been decided.
Head Coach
Walter Giacometti and the Pioneers have wrapped up the fall portion of their 2015-16 campaign, and will return in the spring.
