BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 29, 2015) - On Thursday, the LIU Post women's soccer team shut out Molloy College, 5-0, in an East Coast Conference match at Pioneer Soccer Park.
With the win, the Pioneers (13-2-2, 5-1-2 ECC) secured a berth in the 2015 ECC Championship, which starts on Nov. 5.
It didn't take long for the green and gold to get on the board first. Freshman forward
Andrea Huntzinger (Stockholm, Sweden) scored in the fourth minute off a rebound.
Then, in the 42nd minute, Huntzinger received a pass from graduate midfielder
Gabriella Fuduli (East Meadow, N.Y.), and the freshman finished for the 2-0 lead.
LIU Post outshot Molloy (6-7-2, 3-5 ECC), 11-2, in the first half. Junior keeper
Felicia Orderud (Gothenburg, Sweden) made one save in the opening period.
In the second half, the Pioneers scored three goals in a nine-minute span.
Huntzinger earned the hat trick the 81st minute. Senior forward
Susanne Vistnes (Randaberg, Norway) scored in the 86th minute and junior midfielder
Jackie Niciforo (East Islip, N.Y.) added a tally in the 89th minute.
Orderud made two saves in the final 45 minutes to earn her 10th win of the season.
The Pioneers wrap up the regular season on Saturday (Oct. 31), when they take on St. Thomas Aquinas College at noon in Sparkill.
