CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Oct. 5, 2015) - For the third-consecutive week, LIU Post volleyball freshman setter Giulia Genna (Civitella San Paolo. Italy) was selected as the East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Genna helped the Pioneers to a 3-1 showing last week, including three straight 3-0 sweeps of University of New Haven, Le Moyne College and Pace University.

In the four matches, Genna allocated 150 assists, averaging 11.5 helpers per set. She also registered 40 digs, 12 kills and four service aces, while hitting at a .393 clip.

Additionally, Genna notched a double-double in three of the four contests. She opened the week with a 45-assist, 10-dig performance against University of Bridgeport last Tuesday (Sept. 29). Genna then put together back-to-back double-doubles on Saturday versus Le Moyne (38 assists, 13 digs) and Pace (35 assists, 10 digs).

Genna currently ranks third in the ECC and second amongst all freshman setters with 567 assists in 2015. Her average of 9.15 assists per set is fifth-best in the conference.

Genna and the Pioneers return to action Tuesday (Oct. 6), when they face Caldwell College in a non-conference match at the Pratt Recreation Center in Brookville. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
