EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. (Nov. 1, 2015)
- The LIU Post women's swimming team shattered three pool records Saturday in a 147-108 victory against East Stroudsburg University at Koehler Fieldhouse.

The win was Michael Travers' first since assuming the role of head coach of the Pioneers (1-1).

Two of the pool marks were broken by relay squads. Seniors Joyce Kwok (Middle Village, N.Y.)Meghan Brazier (West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) and Seren Jones (Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom) and sophomore Laura Bendfeldt (Grosshansdorf, Germany) clocked a record 3:37.81 in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The same trio of Kwok, Brazier and Jones, along with freshman Elin Kvarnemar (Varberg, Sweden), swam to a pool-best time of 4:01.82 in the 400-yard medley relay.

Kwok also bested a pool record in the 200-yard butterfly. Her first-place mark of 2:07.49 topped former Pioneer standout Riley Cassidy's 2:09.52 from 2010.

She swam a top mark of 56.89 in the 100-fly, as well. That time was a provisional cut for the NCAA Division II National Championships.

In the long-distance races of the day, freshmen Eline Swensen (Langhus, Norway) and Karis Fuller (London, England) won the 500- and 1,000-yard freestyle, respectively. Swensen tapped the pad at 5:26.14, while Fuller clocked a 10:45.66.

Brazier posted first-place finishes in the 50- (24.85) and 100-yard freestyle (53.23). Bendfeldt came in just behind Brazier in the 50- and 100-free, recording second-place times of 25.10.and 54.44.

Jones added a first-place showing in the 100-yard backstroke (59.70) and a second-place effort in the 200-back (2:13.16). Kvarnemar individually finished second and (1:04.30) third (2:21.57) in the same two events.

In addition to winning the 1,000-free, Fuller placed second in the 200 IM (2:15.52) and third in the 100-fly (1:04.05). Senior Kat Kazaba (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.) was second in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle, clocking respective times of 2:05.54 and 5:43.38. Freshman Shannon de la Garza (Tijeras, N.M.) swam to second-place finishes in the 100- (1:16.05) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:43.36).

Travers and his LIU Post squad return to the pool next Saturday (Nov. 7), when they face University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, Conn. at 1 p.m.
