CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Nov. 17, 2015) - The East Coast Conference gave out its final weekly volleyball awards Monday night, and LIU Post freshman setter
Giulia Genna (Civitella San Paolo, Italy) earned rookie of the week accolades.
It is the fourth time this season that Genna has received ECC Rookie of the Week recognition. She was previously awarded the same honor for three consecutive weeks (Sept. 21, Sept. 28 and Oct. 5).
Genna allocated 138 assists in a 3-1 week for the Pioneers, averaging 10.62 helpers per set. She dished out 36 assists in back-to-back sweeps of Mercy College (Nov. 12) and Queens College (Nov. 14), and had 41 helpers in a 3-1 victory over Southern Connecticut State University (Nov. 14).
Genna currently places third in the East Coast Conference in assists (1,094), which is also second-best in the league amongst freshman setters. Her average of 9.51 assists per set ranks fifth in the ECC.
Genna and the Pioneers are in action next on Friday (Nov. 20), when they travel to Bridgeport, Conn. to face top-seeded University of Bridgeport in the semifinals of the 2015 East Coast Conference Championship. First serve is slated for 6 p.m.
