INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Nov. 23, 2015) - The "Battle of the Boulevard" rivalry is set to continue into the postseason, as the fifth-seeded LIU Post volleyball team will face fourth-seeded New York Institute of Technology in the opening round of the NCAA Division II East Region Championship at Adelphi University's Center for Recreation and Sport in Garden City, N.Y.

LIU Post has now earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament for the fourth-straight year. It is also the fifth appearance in the big dance under Head Coach Shellane Ogoshi's watch.

The Pioneers (23-10) and Bears (25-7) split the regular-season series, with both squads holding serve on home court. LIU Post defeated NYIT, 3-1, at the Pratt Recreation Center on Oct. 13, before the green and gold's Northern Boulevard rivals won a three-set contest on Nov. 10 at Recreation Hall.

The last time these two squads met in the NCAA Tournament was in 2013. In that match, the Pioneers swept the Bears, and went on to capture the program's first-ever East Region title. 

Freshman outside hitter Rachel Londot (Utica, Ohio) averaged 11.5 kills on a .254 hitting percentage in the two regular-season matches versus NYIT. Sophomore outside/middle/right-side hitter Danielle Valenza (Hauppauge, N.Y.) tallied 16 kills on a .419 hitting clip in the Oct. 13 clash. Freshman setter Giulia Genna (Civitella San Paolo, Italy) combined to dish out 72 assists in the two contests.
