BLOOMFIELD, N.J. (Nov. 24, 2015) - On Tuesday evening, the LIU Post women's basketball team dropped a 54-52 decision to Bloomfield College, as a last-second jumper was off target.

The Pioneers (0-4) and Bears (4-1) were evenly matched through the game's first half, with LIU Post carrying a 22-19 lead into the break. The Pioneers shot 40.0 percent from the floor, including 33.3 percent from long distance. Senior guard Jalyn Brown (Riverhead, N.Y.) paved the way with six points off the bench in the first half.

In the third quarter, Bloomfield took over. Just over 90 seconds into the period, the Bears tied the game at 24-all. From there, the hosts went on a 19-8 run to bring a 43-32 lead into the intermission.

Later, in the fourth quarter, the Pioneers trailed by six (53-47), until Brown drained a three and senior guard Khea Gibbs (Norwalk, Conn.) converted a lay-up to bring the visitors within one (53-52) with under a minute to play. Then, with nine seconds left, Bloomfield went 1-for-2 from the line, giving the Pioneers a shot to tie or win it, but Gibbs' shot was off the mark and Bloomfield escaped with the 54-52 win.

Freshman guard Robyn Francis (Rosedale, N.Y.) led the green and gold with nine points and six rebounds. Brown scored nine points, while Gibbs added eight points on 3-of-7 shooting.

Head Coach Deirdre Moore and the Pioneers return to action on Sunday (Nov. 29), when they take on Stonehill College in a non-conference tilt in North Easton, Mass. The opening tip is slated for 1 p.m.
