Women's Basketball Stumbles at Stonehill, 62-41
Box Score EASTON, Mass. (Nov. 29, 2015) - The LIU Post women's basketball team suffered a 62-41 loss to Stonehill College in a non-conference game Sunday at Paula Sullivan Court in Easton.
The Pioneers (0-5) struggled from the field, shooting just 26.3 percent (15-of-57). Senior center
Nyasia Davis (Rahway, N.J.) was the lone Pioneer in double figures with 10 points.
LIU Post got off to a slow start in the first half, and found itself trailing 41-15 after the first two quarters.
In the third quarter, the Pioneers tried to get things going down low, outscoring Stonehill, 10-4, in the paint. But, it wouldn't be enough as the Skyhawks (4-2) outlasted an LIU Post comeback attempt.
Freshman guard
Shannon Doyle (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) chipped in nine points, six rebounds, two assists and two blocks in 29 minutes off the bench. Junior forward
Janaysia James (Perth Amboy, N.J.) brought down a season-high 16 boards.
Head Coach
Deirdre Moore and the Pioneers return to action on Wednesday (Dec. 2), when they host Mercy College in their 2015-16 home opener as they begin East Coast Conference play. The opening tip is slated for 5 p.m.
