Women's Swimming Drops 102-92 Decision at Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Nov. 7, 2015) - On Saturday, the LIU Post women's swimming team lost by a score of 102-92 to University of Bridgeport at the Wheeler Recreation Center.
Senior
Joyce Kwok (Middle Village, N.Y.) won back-to-back individual events for the Pioneers (1-2), clocking first-place times in the 200-meter individual medley (2:24.42) and the 100-meter butterfly (1:03.20).
Sophomore
Laura Bendfeldt (Grosshansdorf, Germany) finished second in the 100-fly and 200-free, after touching the pad at 1:06.95 and 2:13.16, respectively.
Senior
Meghan Brazier (West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) recorded a second-place 59.72 in the 100-free and added a third-place showing (27.67) in the 50-meter freestyle.
Sophomore
Jacqueline Tonn (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) clocked a 1:22.72 in the 100-meter breaststroke, which was good for a second-place finish. Freshman
Shannon de la Garza (Tijeras, N.M.) came in third (1:23.03) in the same event.
Freshmen
Karis Fuller (London, England) and
Eline Swensen (Langhus, Norway) individually swam second in the 400- (4:38.00) and 800-meter freestyle (9:39.72). Fuller was also third (2:28.54) in the 200 IM.
Senior
Seren Jones (Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom) finished third in the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:07.28, while fellow senior
Kat Kazaba (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.) raced to a third-place effort (2:15.61) in the 200-free.
Head Coach
Michael Travers and his LIU Post squad return to the pool on Friday (Nov. 13), when they swim against Division I program Fordham University at the Messmore Aquatic Center in Bronx, N.Y. The meet is slated for a 6 p.m. start.
