2015 AVCA Division II All-Region Teams
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 3, 2015) - On Wednesday, LIU Post sophomore outside/middle/right-side hitter
Danielle Valenza (Hauppauge, N.Y.) was recognized as an American Volleyball Coaches Association Division II All-East Region Honorable Mention.
Valenza, who earned All-East Coast Conference second-team recognition, was one of just 20 student-athletes named to the AVCA All-East Region ledger.
Valenza enters this week's NCAA Division II East Region Championship as the team leader in kills (308). Through her first two seasons with the Pioneers, Valenza has put down 671 kills. She is currently on pace to eclipse the 1,000-kill plateau by the conclusion of her junior campaign.
Valenza would be the first LIU Post volleyball player to reach 1,000 career kills since former standout
Makamae Namahoe (1,237 kills) accomplished the feat from 2010-13.
Valenza currently ranks eighth amongst the ECC's statistical leaders in kills, points (368) and points per set (3.5). She also places in the Top-25 in the league in eight other statistical categories.
Valenza and the Pioneers are back in action Thursday night (Dec. 3), when they face fourth-seeded New York Institute of Technology in the opening round of the NCAA Division II East Region Championship at Adelphi University's Center for Recreation and Sport in Garden City, N.Y. First serve is slated for 7:30 p.m.
