STAC Outlasts Women's Basketball, 48-41
Box Score SPARKILL, N.Y. (Dec. 5, 2015) - On Saturday, the LIU Post women's basketball dropped a 48-41 decision to St. Thomas Aquinas College at Aquinas Hall Gym in East Coast Conference action.
The loss brings the Pioneers to 1-6 overall, including a 1-1 record in ECC action. The Spartans improve to 6-1, with a 1-1 ledger in conference play.
LIU Post got off to a slow start in the first 10 minutes, scoring just six points in the opening quarter. In the second half, the green and gold turned up the offense, but trailed 25-19 at halftime. The Pioneers shot just over 26 percent from the floor in the first half.
It would be more of the same in the latter two quarters, as the Pioneers shot just under 22 percent from the floor in the game's final 20 minutes.
Junior forward
Janaysia James (Perth Amboy, N.J.) led the offense with 14 points on 5-of-12 shooting in 30 minutes off the bench. Senior guard
Khea Gibbs (Norwalk, Conn.) chipped in nine points and two steals in 25 minutes.
Head coach
Deirdre Moore and the Pioneers are back in action on Wednesday (Dec. 9) when they host University of Bridgeport in an ECC battle in Brookville. The opening tip is slated for 5 p.m.
