NEW YORK, N.Y. (Feb. 4, 2015) - On Saturday morning, the LIU Post women's swimming team won five of the seven events it competed in at the NYU Invitational, held at the Coles Sports Center.

In the day's first event, the 200-yard medley relay, the Pioneers' "A" squad raced to a top time of 1:48.95. Three swimmers posted under-30 second splits in the race for the green and gold.

Individually, senior Carolin Rademacher (Isernhagen, Germany) was first in the 400-yard individual medley and 100-yard breaststroke, touching the pad at 4:34.45 and 1:06.20, respectively. Freshman Erika Hultman (Bara, Sweden) added a third-place showing (1:11.39) in the 100-breast.

Meanwhile, the Pioneers earned the top two spots in the 100-yard butterfly. Junior Joyce Kwok (Middle Village, N.Y.) and freshman Laura Bendfeldt (Grosshansdorf, Germany) finished nearly two seconds apart from one another, clocking individual times of 58.02 and 59.86. Junior Marthe Soerensen (Stavanger, Norway) took fourth (1:02.78) in the same event.

Like Kwok and Bendfeldt, senior Johanna Pettersson (Kungalv, Sweden) and junior Meghan Brazier (West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) placed one-two, as well. In the 100-back, Pettersson recorded a time of 58.49, whereas Brazier clocked a 59.31. Senior Courtney Delehanty (Oceanport, N.J.) pitched in a fourth-place effort (2:02.93) in the 200-free.

The final event of the session saw LIU Post's 800-yard freestyle relay team place second. The green and gold's top distance swimmers completed the feat in 8:05.54.

Head Coach Maureen Travers and the Pioneers return to the pool on Friday, Feb. 20, when they defend their conference title at the Metropolitan Conference Championships in Piscataway, N.J.
