CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Feb. 9, 2015) - After helping the LIU Post women's basketball team to a 2-0 record last week in East Coast Conference play, senior guard
Chelsea Williams (Copiague, N.Y.) was named the league's player of the week on Monday.
Williams averaged 24.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game as the Pioneers downed Bridgeport and Dowling last week.
Against the Purple Knights, Williams led all scorers with 25 points, 17 of which came in the second half as the green and gold held off Bridgeport's comeback attempt. The Copiague native also added six assists and four boards.
On Saturday (Feb. 7), Williams went for 24 points and was 5-of-10 from three-point range as the Pioneers tied a school record for hitting 12 three-pointers as a team.
Williams and the Pioneers return to action on Wednesday (Feb. 11), when they host Mercy in an ECC battle. The opening tip is slated for 5 p.m. from Brookville.
