Women's Swimming Finishes NCAA Championship at a Program-High Seventh

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Mar. 14, 2015) - Highlighted by three All-American finishes during the final day of competition at the 2015 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, the LIU Post women's swimming team placed seventh, marking a top program finish at a national event. The Pioneers collected 184 total points and nine All-America distinctions through four days of racing at the IUPUI Natatorium. 

The final preliminary trials advanced four qualifications to finals compeition. Meghan Brazier (West Vancouver, B.C., Canada) and Laura Bendfeldt (Grosshansdorf, Germany) competed in the 100-yard freestyle and placed 19th and 25th, at 51.33 and 51.66, respectively. The 200-yard backstroke advanced Johanna Pettersson (Kungalv, Sweden) to finals competition, as she touched the pad at 1:59.20, good for a top-eight seeding, and Joyce Kwok (Middle Village, N.Y.) completed the feat at 2:01.76 which helped her to the consultation final event. Senior Carolin Rademacher (Isernhagen, Germany) qualified second in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:14.79, and the 400 freestyle relay squad clocked in at 3:26.50, good for a finals run. 

Final events boasted LIU Post top finishes, as Pettersson secured an All-American accolade in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing eighth at 2:00.55, while Kwok finished 13th overall at 2:01.28. Rademacher earned the bronze in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:13.61 - a personal and team best. The 400-yard freestyle relay squad, Bendfeldt, Rademacher, Kwok and Brazier, finished sixth overall at 3:24.90.
