CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Mar. 30, 2015) - On Monday, sophomore hurler Ashley Martin (Long Beach, N.Y.) of the LIU Post softball team was recognized as the East Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week.

Martin recorded a pair of shutouts (2-0, 0.00 ERA) in the circle for the Pioneers last week.

She tossed a one-hitter, while fanning seven, in an 8-0 blanking of NYIT on Tuesday (Mar. 24). The Long Beach native then struck out two and allowed only five hits in an 8-0 win over Mercy on Wednesday (Mar. 25).

Martin presently boasts a 5-1 record with 27 strikeouts and a 1.97 earned-run average in 2015. She has posted a league-leading two clean sheets, and ranks in the Top-5 in the ECC in eight other statistical categories.

Martin and the Pioneers return to the field on Tuesday (Mar. 31), when they face ECC opponent St. Thomas Aquinas in a twinbill at the LIU Post Softball Complex. First pitch is set for 2:30 p.m.
