MARSHALL, Minn. (May 22, 2015) - On Friday, LIU Post sophomore pitcher Jake DeCarli (Higganum, Conn.) was named a Daktronics All-America Honorable Mention, as voted on by the Sports Information Directors of Division II.

DeCarli has seen his share of offseason awards, as he was recently named an All-America Honorable Mention by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and just last week the righty was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-East Region second team.

Earlier this month, the sophomore was named to the 2015 Daktronics/Division II Conference Commissioners Association Baseball East All-Region first team and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association All-East Region first team.

DeCarli, the 2015 East Coast Conference Pitcher of the Year, and All-ECC first-team honoree, was dominant on the hill for the green and gold this season. In 10 starts that spanned 71.0 innings pitched, he put together a 6-1 record to go along with a minuscule 0.76 earned run average. His ERA led the ECC and ranks third nationally in Division II, while his win total was good for fourth in the conference. DeCarli was even better in ECC play, finishing with an unblemished 4-0 mark and a 0.79 ERA during the regular season. On the year, he added 60 strikeouts and held hitters to a stingy .148 batting average against. DeCarli also ranks third in Division II with 4.44 hits allowed per nine innings and fourth with a 0.80 WHIP (walks plus hits per innings pitched).

DeCarli was one of the key factors in the programs success in 2015. The green and gold went 8-2 in his 10 starts, including winning the opening game of each of the six ECC series that he pitched in. He led the Pioneers to their first ECC Baseball Championships appearance since 2010.

In DeCarli's start in the conference tournament, he threw a five-hit, complete-game shutout to advance the Pioneers to the winners bracket.

DeCarli is the first Pioneer to be named an All-American since 2007, when Joe Mare was named a NCBWA All-American Honorable Mention. Mare led an LIU Post resurgence in 2007, helping the team to its second 30-win season in school history. He led the Pioneers with a .402 average, and set a school single-season record with 82 hits. Mare led the team with a career-high six home runs, 51 RBI, 17 doubles, and a .593 slugging percentage. He has established himself as one of the best hitters in the region, having hit safely in 57 of his last 61 games, dating back to the end of the 2006 campaign. Mare posted three hitting streaks of nine-plus games in 2007, including a 19-game stretch from Mar. 3-April 1. He will enter the 2008 season on a nine-game streak.
