AUSTIN, Texas (May 28, 2015) - Junior designated player
Paige Swantek (Smithtown, N.Y.) of the LIU Post softball team has been named to the Capital One® Academic All-America Division II Third Team, it was revealed by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.
Swantek, who boasts a 3.72 cumulative grade-point average in Speech-Language Pathology, was a long ball threat for the Pioneers in 2015. In addition to starting in all 50 games for Head Coach
Jamie Apicella's squad, she belted a team-leading eight homers and drove in 31 RBIs. Those numbers ranked fifth- and seventh-best in the East Coast Conference, respectively.
Swantek, the team's third-leading hitter with a .281 average, also ranked in the Top-10 in the league in three other statistical categories. She placed sixth in doubles (13), ninth in walks (18) and 10th in total bases (82). Swantek's efforts earned her nods to the All-ECC first-team and Daktronics All-East Region second-team.
