Paige Swantek (Smithtown, N.Y.) and sophomore hurler
Ashley Martin (Long Beach, N.Y.) were named to the 2015 Capital One Academic All-District Softball First Team, as released on Thursday.
The 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-District Softball Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Capital One has been the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA's Academic All-America teams programs since 2011. First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
On the field, Swantek owns a .295 batting average, collecting 43 hits, 31 RBIs, while slugging eight homers. In the classroom, the Smithtown, N.Y. native boasts a 3.72 GPA, majoring in speech-language pathology.
Martin sports a perfect 4.0 GPA, also concentrating in speech-language pathology, while commanding the circle for the Pioneers. The 2015 East Coast Conference Pitcher of the Year earned a 1.79 ERA with 105 whiffs through 148.1 innings pitched.
