BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (June 1, 2015) - Head Coach Mark Dawson of the LIU Post women's soccer team has announced the hiring of four assistant coaches that will be on staff for the 2015 season.

Each of the four new assistant coaches comes to Brookville with impressive amounts of coaching and playing experience and will be joining fellow assistant Joe Zydor on the sidelines.

Dr. Josefa Pace is a former four-time All-ECC women's soccer standout from Adelphi. She was a four-year starter with the Panthers from 2001-04 and was a part of three NCAA Tournament teams, including the 2004 national runners-up. Pace started all 84 games on defense for Adelphi and also received All-Northeast Region Second Team recognition twice throughout her collegiate career. Prior to her appointment with LIU Post, Pace had been an assistant coach on Adelphi's staff since 2008.

In addition to her knowledge of soccer, Pace was also a brilliant student. She was selected as a CoSIDA Academic All-District second team honoree in 2004 and was a three-time ECC All-Academic Team member. She graduated from Adelphi in 2005 with a Theater and English degree before receiving her Masters from Queens College one year later. After a second master's degree, Pace earned her Ph.D. from Hofstra University in Literacy Studies at the end of 2012.
Pace has also received certifications from the United States Soccer Federation and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Another former assistant coach from Adelphi, Kara Gazzano will be on the sidelines this fall for LIU Post for the first time. Gazzano, a former standout goalie for the Panthers from 1996-99, was a three-time All-ECC selection and the 1996 East Coast Conference Rookie of the Year. At the time of her graduation, she held the record for most career wins (59) and shutouts (31.5) for Adelphi, records that still stand to this day.

Gazzano most recently worked as the volunteer goalkeeper coach for St. John's University. Her work experiences include coaching for the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association and the Massapequa Soccer Club's 15U Girls team. She currently serves as an adapted physical education teacher at The School for Language and Communication Development in Glen Cove, N.Y.

Billy Carroll joins the coaching staff for the Pioneers, heading to Brookville with a great amount of coaching experience. Most recently, Carroll has been the director of the HBC Girls Soccer Club in Huntington, N.Y. Additionally, he was a head coach for the HBC Impact 98, HBC Buzz and HBC Impact 00 squads. Prior to coaching with the HBC Soccer Club, Carroll was a coach for East Islip Soccer Club's Impact team from 2002-08.

Carroll also brings years of scouting experience to his job at LIU Post, as he has been the NTC Scout for the U.S. National Team since 2014. He also has served as the National Scout for id2 Soccer since 2012.

Finally, Tom Williamson will man the sidelines as part of the LIU Post women's soccer coaching staff for the first time in the fall of 2015. Williamson, a graduate of Coventry University in Warwickshire, United Kingdom, has served in prior coaching, directing and managing capabilities on Long Island since 2008.

Williamson was a staff coach for the New York Red Bulls from September of 2008 through November of 2011. In that capacity, he worked with both the Manorville and New Hyde Park Soccer Clubs. From there, Williamson would become the Director of Coaching Services at NOGA Soccer from March of 2011 through January of 2014, working with the Northport Cow Harbor Soccer Club. Currently, he is the Director of Coaching for the Hamptons United Soccer Club and the Assistant Regional Manager of UK Elite Soccer Camps.
