Volleyball Picked Second in ECC Preseason Poll

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Aug. 26, 2015) 
- On the heels of a title match appearance at the ECC Tournament last year, the LIU Post volleyball team was tabbed to finish second in the 2015 East Coast Conference Preseason Poll, announced Wednesday.

The Pioneers ran a close second to Bridgeport in the voting, tabulating 71 points and three first-place votes. UB earned 73 points and four first-place nods to top the poll. Dowling (63 points) received the other two first-place votes to place third.

LIU Post finished 20-14 overall and 11-5 in ECC play last season. The green and gold also secured their third-straight bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament.

Head Coach Shellane Ogoshi boasts 14 student-athletes on her 2015 roster, including reigning ECC Rookie of the Year Danielle Valenza (Hauppauge, N.Y.). Valenza, who was also named the ECAC Rookie of the Year in 2014, ranked third in the league and led all freshmen in kills with 363.

LIU Post starts up the 2015 campaign next Friday (Sept. 4), when it travels to Waltham, Mass. for the two-day Bentley University Invitational. The Pioneers will square off with New Haven and host Bentley at 12:30 and 6:30 p.m., respectively.
